Meet the Master Behind the Shadows

Dr. Nabil Ahmed is an Egyptian academic scholar and a theater artist, playwright, and director. He wrote over 30 plays performed in almost 20 countries and recently in the United Nations. His work includes registering Egypt's traditional Aragoz puppetry in UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage art. His exhibitions of Egyptian traditional puppets are showcased in museums worldwide, including a permanent corner at the Center for Puppetry Arts here in Atlanta.

Event Summary:

Experience the rich tradition of Arabic shadow puppetry in a magical evening with Egyptian scholar and artist Dr. Nabil Ahmed. The event will feature a lecture followed by a hands-on workshop, where Dr. Ahmed will share his insights into the cultural significance and techniques of this unique art form. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore puppet movement, and the creative process behind the screen.
